if only it were this easy.......

You can hardly turn on a newscast lately without finding out more than your share of skirmishes that lead to rocket fire, and eventually to recorded deaths. It seems the world has gone mad. The Middle East maddest of all, lately. All the while, the collected heads of other "states" ponder over what must be done to stop this nonsense.... to somehow return to rational thinking, diplomacy.... or whatever other tactic will appease each side. Where are the Super Heros when you need them?

Well, this is nothing new. Every generation behind us thought the same about their times.... and for good reason. It's been a proven fact that man cannot get along with his own species very well. Call it territorial or call it the nature of the beast, we've gone out of our way to bring the act of conquering to a fine art. It probably started out during the cave days when man was first learning to walk upright. His brain, just larger enough and capable of thought process, had the caveman just humming about while spotting a nicer or newer cave. Hence the first neighbor against neighbor skirmish. He who has the better cave has a better chance of survival, yes? And on it went to bigger and better things, such as food and clothing. It escalated from there to land beyond that of known territory, and now we have events that throw God , as a pariah, into the mixture..... adding fuel to an unnecessary fire. What's different about these times is that we watch it unfold before us everyday, all day, even if it doesn't affect us personally. The bombs are more sophisticated and better built. Heck, in most cases you don't even have to show up at the battlefield, just aim and point from whatever distance away you are. It's bound to do destruction, and cause death.

It's not the end of times, I don't believe, but it sure feels like it somedays, doesn't it? Between the weather being as screwy as it is, bombings across the continents on innocent cities by terrorists, and the general hopelessness we feel over the leaders we entrusted to take care of these problems, it's difficult to see any hope out of the situation. But there is hope. Remember..... it was the last gift out of Pandoras box after all the other ills were released into the world. At this point, it is all we have as a coping mechanism.

The world is not full of Super Heros to dig us out of this mess, but enough smaller heros make a difference here and there. What we really need is an understanding amongst the kooks and mongers out there that life is more precious, because it was a gift of God.... whomever they perceived Him to be. We should survive as a species because we have the best abilities of any animal that has walked the face of the earth so far. We were put here to do good things. There has to be more of a reason, other than to destroy ourselves, why we exist at all. And a few people do realize this concept, except they are out-numbered by ones who apathetically stand by or actively work against it. Remember that it is nowhere written that the species of man can go on forever, but it is something we can have a hand in taking care of now. If only it were easy enough for us to leave it up to the Super Heros..... but it's not.

It's sad to see all of this death and destruction in this world, and for the most part, know we can't do anything about it.

The scariest thought is that there are missles that can probably reach North America now. Most people were naive to think NA would never be touched.....and now that there is a possibility of that....it's tough to think that in 10-15 years, Alberta or Utah may be the site of the next war.

Fun sign pic!

"Great Scott, Batman, don't give away the secret location!"
KaPow! *Crash*
"OK Robin, thanks for taking that sign down"

There's always hope... I believe people helping other people is what keeps the Earth spinning.
We don't want our Creator to lose hope people can be good!

Very good point you bring up! If only we could be good little freedom fighters without all the bombs and guns. Hard to do when the arsenals are more important to build up, than feeding the world's hungry.
Thanks for stopping by, and I'll be over to read your blog later when I get home from work.

LOL! Bush would like to think he is a superhero, but he lacks the stamina for the job.... whether he realizes it or not. Believe me, the US citizens are just as disillusioned over this fact.

The bombs and missle ranges seem to be more daunting than ever. We once felt "protected" that we lived far enough away for any of them to reach us.... but the world has gotten too small, and the allied countries have shared too many secrets... be them communist or democratic. All we needed was for a few people to get in charge of those secrets that had nothing but mayhem on their mind... such as North Korea. Scary, isn't it?

I agree totally with your last paragraph. Let's hope that cooler heads are strong in diplomatic forces before we esculate into nothing but another planet floating aimlessly along the galaxy.

Hi there!

I've decided that I will sign up for Superhero school and change the course of my life path. That's of course, once I can think up a good name and design a smashing superhero costume, complete with magical power dangling earrings and fancy sparkly shoes that allow me to fly.

We do need superheros in our world, don't we? Freedom fighters too.

My goodness this world is just goin to the dogs lately. I can't even comprehend the mess we're in. Best just head to the beach with a smutty novel and hide for a while.

Ellen - You're right and it seems the whole world has gone mad.

The way some people observe the destruction of other humans; regardless of race, nationality or color, is quite disgusting.

God's giving us the preview of what our world is becoming. And frankly I don't like it.

The rich sit back and laugh at the poorest of poor die for no good cause.

Don't expect the main stream media to cover it fairly either. They know who their masters are.

Peace & Hugs,

- Neo

All I can do is pray for the safety of those caught up in all of this mess. Wait a minute I do have one old superhero outfit that I might can squeeze into as long as bending over isn't required.!!! :)

That reminds me, have you seen "the Incredibles movie?"

I bet we were in missle range from China n the old USSR long ago, if they ever decided to start with US, that is! Guess we just don't trust N Korea after that bad experience in the past war conflict- Aways think of the show M*A*S*H

Glad you liked the sign. I liked it immediately when I ran across it too.
Thanks for your kind words!

I think your name alone is superhero quality. We think of strength as muscles and abilities. Nothing more important than the mind being strong when first we practice to see the injustices of the world.

But there are some days when we just need to escape the drudgery... and a good trashy novel at the beach is enough to clear the cobwebs. Mind if I join you? Somehow, I get rejuvinated whenever I sit amongst the surf, sand, and call of the gulls.

It wouldn't be so bad if it were a little skirmish here or there.... but the carnage seems be infectious. I guess it isn't bad enough that the weather is twisted, we need to add to the pile of troubles by bombing the crap out of each other.

Don't worry.... somewhere down the line (in a couple of years or so) all the truths will come out... they always do. Then we sit back and go through the process of being shocked by it all. That's been history's usual footprint.

Just think, if you/ I/ or anybody is sitting on the front lines and doing a little investigative work, we could write the book and make millions for our retirement.

LOL! If you have the ability to kick butt, we can slide on the bending abilities. Besides, what a workout you'll get in your SH suit! You'll be bending in no time.

Funny you should think of that movie. I had forgotten all about it, and will have to rent it myself. After all, I fall into the range of middle-agers who would qualify.

Good point about the Korean War back in the 50's. Let's pray it isn't a revenge situation on their part... but rather that the idiot in charge over there only wants to be on the list of bigshots who own the secrets. Hard shot to call right now, as we haven't had any indication that relations are friendly. We can only hope that he isn't a total madman.

Hubby is a big collector of signs as well. He has quite a few that are gems. One is from the Olympics that were here 10 years ago. He is one of those type of people that can just be driving along and find neat cool stuff just lying in the road.

I would love to read your thesis. What an interesting subject!

If it IS the end of days, we still have some more things/signs we'll need to see first. But I'm not lovin' all this unrest, that's for sure! It scares me to see what's in store for my child. I hope to God it gets better.

Hey Ellen.

You're right! Awareness would be a great superhero name!

You're more than welcome to join me at the beach? PEI? Ogonquit? Or would you prefer S. Carolina? Just want the sand, the gulls and the ocean breezes, I'm open to the destination.

How about somewhere on the Gulf Coast... say Destin. The beaches have the whitest sand and the most emerald of green waters. I am now officially homesick for the ocean!

I'm right with you on those thoughts.... and can't even imagine what our children have in store for their future. Now I truly know how my parents felt about my future as they had to see me through the turbulent 60's and 70's... which was so different from their world of the 40's and 50's.
The best we can do is see them as far as we can and hope they become educated enough to turn the tide.

Thank goodness for the few superheros out there that do make a difference. If only we had more!
