absence........
Sneaking onto my sons computer is a covert act that must be done when he is off to work.... like tonight. Why am I sneaking around his room? Well, with good reason. My computer suffered another crash. Seems like every couple of months or so, I go through this. This time it was a matter of my PC not recognizing my printer.... or even another printer that I had installed. The "spooler" application was disabled. What the heck is a spooler? I don't know... I only know that I need it in order for the printer to work. Having an opportunity to talk it all over with a tech who is a good friend, she advised me that I would need to bring it in to get fixed, as we tried to send the computer back in time, but to no avail.
So, no spooler application, no printer, no way to type up invoices... and worse of all, no PC .
I (hopefully) will get back to normal by Wednesday.... in the meantime, my house got a good cleaning today... as there was not much else to do, and it's raining again, so the plants and grass are happy. Life could be worse! I'll be around to read and leave comments as I can.... but remember, this is a covert action on my part. If my son ever knew I was on his computer, he'd freak. shhhh.......

Oh no! Good luck resolving your PC issue! I'll understand if your replies take a while.
Hope it's fixed soon, n also
lokks like there's quite alot of rain in the SouthEast lately...
Ellen - Your secret is safe with me batman.
The spooler is what your computer uses to compile the data is about to send to your printer port.
Sorry to hear your machine is down. Doesn't sound like it'll be too terribly difficult to fix.
Good luck!
Peace & Hugs,

Gottcha, I know Nothing! shhhh!
Wow, until Weds is like forever...!
Thanks for the spooler def, Neo, I was wonderin too!
My laptop doesn't recognize my computer because it's old and isn't on it's list. I tried finding its driver but apparently that doesn't exist. Okkkk. I think I need a new printer. Le sigh.
* printer...doesn't recognize my printer. One day i will reread these darn things :P
lol, your a regular Agent 007. :)
I hope its fixed quick, the blogosphere misses you. :)

Issues finally resolved after three days. And the good news is that I was able to catch up on all the other stuff in my life while waiting for the fix.... bread in snail-mail soon!
We did get four good days of rain, and everything perked up. Many hydrangea flowers lost their color due to the sun beating on them... so we'll see how well they hold up during the summer.

{SHAZAM!} Thanks Robin!
Yeah it wasn't as bad as I thought... just something out of my league. Miracle upon miracle... it was working just fine the moment they plugged it in at the fix-it store. Long story...

I think my son knew I was on his computer, because he has tracking with his google search engine, and when I went to get on Tuesday, it came right up that I was at the garden the night before. Oh well... he never said anything....

I am guilty of dashing off something.... then wish I had re-read it over before hitting send. It's the IM in all of us I guess. LOL!
Le Hope for a new printer from Santa!

Oh yeah, if only my son knew of the dastardly stuff I'm capable of... but then I'm sure it's a likewise situation.
Thanks for your kind words.... I've missed blogsphere as well, and will take the time tonight to catch up, read and comment. I need to go over and check to see if there are any more pictures of Prague you've posted.... I've missed the European vacations I could take in the afternoons!
oh well, at least your son didn't see any tracking of you at chipendales.com or boytoy.com :)
Well, at least you have a backup...hehe!
I won't tell, Scouts honor! I do have a suggestion however: One word will forever solve you PC woes. One word will enable you to operate your machine and stop defending it. That word is:
MACINTOSH
Oh, but perhaps I've said too much -

So true! Except he did figure something out, because he disabled his keyboard and mouse, and for the life of me I could not get them to work. Smartypants!! I should remind him that I bought that computer.....

Unfortunetly, my computer is the "business" one, and I have uber cheap partners. We had to buy it at a store where a friend works. It works out pretty good in one respect, as the fix cost nothing... but then when you bring it there an average of three to four times a year, my time is being wasted... not to mention the gas.
I also think it had to do with the fact that two other people use my computer, and everytime they get through using it, I have to go back and "clean" it up. I'm under the firm belief that cars and computers are alike in one respect: there should only be one driver at the wheel.
Thanks for the info about the Mac. I will use that as a bargaining tool next time I have a melt-down.
Ellen;
Glad to see it all worked out for you. I am still trying to figure out the 'capacity' of this new laptop and feel like an idiot. However my oldest ;Andrew..is sharp enough to go online and 'play around' where he shouldn't. He just doesn't know enough to clear the history....so I do my own 'snooping' on the sites he has visited. Nice way to get into a teenagers head sometimes!
Glad to see you're back.
Oh yeah, one other thing....you called today and I had the phone off. I was in the middle of a 'charter' and I turn off the phone while I navigate around the harbor. Its a safety thing. i will call you tomorrow.
Love Karl
Yay! Ellen's back! Hope ya can get all those pesky invoices out now ($$$ Cha Ching)!
I bet you could've just asked Chris to use it... He can find what ya did in the history n registry anytime, I hear there's another 2 other places to get tracks also.
I bet he reads your blog!
Just logged in to give ya good luck again!
Ellen - Oh man, that must have been slightly embarrasing! ;>
karl~
Looking forward to talking with you!

I'm back... and can't believe how far behind I am in reading. So much to catch up on in blogsphere!
I'll be over to catch up on your new posts soon.

Worse part about having the darn thing running ok when they looked at it is that they look at you like you're a weirdo. Oh well....computer wiz, I am not!
Ellen - Ha, don't feel bad you aren't the only one. My users are like that on a DAILY basis. And they get paid for it. LOL
Peace & Hugs,
- Neo
